Okay, so I may not be the most interesting read and I may not say anything that you don't already know but this diary is mainly for myself. I enjoy sharing it with others, particularly my close friends so they know what's happening in my world, but its still mainly for me. I love to type out my thoughts. Its a great break from my otherwise hectic day. And I love reading over old entries and seeing how much life has changed. So enjoy the read but try not to be too critical.

Productivity without Kids
November 21, 2006 - 9:50 a.m.

Its funny how work drives me to do more work, under the right circumstances. Yesterday Paul called in sick because he still wasn't feeling well at all. He, as well as Morgan and Haidyn, has a yucky chest cold. I thought I'd take the opportunity to get a few things done and boy did I! :)

After the girls were fed and I'd explained Haidyn's schedule to Paul, I headed out the door. I ran to the bank and deposited the cash I had saved up for Paul's Christmas present (which I purchaced online Sunday). Then I ran to the other side of town, to the Social Security office, to get some things done. After that, I headed over to our auto insurance agency to pick up copies of this month's cards as we haven't yet received them in the mail. Then it was over to WF Cody's to pick up lunch for Paul and I (Paul had called it in earlier). I have never been there before. Its a sports bar or something like that. But I have to say, their burgers are excellent!

When lunch was done and I had taken a quick break, Morgan threw on her shoes and we went to Wal-Mart to pick up some things for Thanksgiving dinner as well as some items needed for the baking that I wanted to do with Morgan. We did it in record time (especially considering the holiday madness that is going on right now in the area stores!) and headed back home. After unloading the groceries, asking Paul and Morgan to do a few things around the house for me and starting another load of laundry, I headed out the door to the fitness center to work out. I was there just under an hour but had to quit because my heart was doing goofy things and I was exhausted besides.

I headed back home around 4pm. I swapped out the laundry, had Paul and Morgan help me bring the clean laundry into the livingroom. Then Morgan and I got to baking. We made a small batch of Tedi's Trana Candy, a batch of cranberry gum drops (not as pleased with this batch as with the last) and tried out a new buttermint recipe. Then Morgan and I sat down to rest our feet for 20 minutes and rotted our brains in front of the tube playing Tetris. After which Morgan headed off to bed. I think Paul and I crawled into bed around 10pm. I was exhausted!!

So there, in a long, drawn out version, was my day. I got a lot accomplished and each thing I accomplished made me want to accomplish the next. It was awesome to be able to leave the girls with Paul and really get things done. As any stay-at-home mom can attest to, it is so difficult to get much accomplished with kids in tow. I love my girls very much but sitting down at the bank or SS office filling out paperwork is none to easy with two young children needing something to keep them busy. And trust me, the toy that you think bringing along will help doesn't. They'd rather play with everything around them. Guh!

Anyway. Yesterday made me miss working outside the home just for the fact of getting so much done and having responsibilities other than laundry and poopy diapers. Speaking of which, I need to get back to that laundry... its quite a pile!
