Okay, so I may not be the most interesting read and I may not say anything that you don't already know but this diary is mainly for myself. I enjoy sharing it with others, particularly my close friends so they know what's happening in my world, but its still mainly for me. I love to type out my thoughts. Its a great break from my otherwise hectic day. And I love reading over old entries and seeing how much life has changed. So enjoy the read but try not to be too critical.
Because He Loves Me
January 28, 2007 - 2:42 p.m.
Sometimes it is just nice to be pampered. With all that has been going on, that has been furthest from my mind. That is, until last night. Things will finally be able to return to some normalcy around here. Mom & Dad have electricity and Mom went home yesterday after she and Dad treated us to breakfast as a "thank you". We're slowly getting the house back in some sort of order and Morgan has even pitched in, cleaning her room better than I've seen it in a while. The return to a normal routine is quite nice. Yesterday was my last overly hectic day for a while (I hope!). After breakfast with the family, Alexa, Morgan and I headed off to run some wedding-related errands. First on the list was heading over to David's Bridal to take a look at a bridesmaid dress and flower girl dress that Alexa was considering for her June 30th wedding. We spent nearly 2 hours looking at different styles, trying on dresses and looking again. Morgan only had to try on two dresses before we found a winner. As for the bridesmaid dresses, Alexa had a tea length dress in mind, preferably halter or strapless. She had found several styles online that she liked but when I tried them on at the store, Alexa had her doubts. Most of them were much too long for her tastes. Surprisingly, we came across an elegant floor length gown that she really liked. After trying it on, we were both sold. The next step was seeing what we were going to do about purchasing the dresses. They never have all the sizes, in the appropriate color, available at the store so you have to order them. That meant paying for them upfront - which amounted to a whopping $630 for 3 of the satin gowns that we decided on and 2 flower girl dresses. As the wait for orders was between 16 and 20 weeks, we could not afford to wait another month to order the gowns while everyone saved the money to purchase the dresses. After all, the wedding is only twenty weeks away. So, we decided to put it on a DB credit card under my name. That was quite a bit of money to put on a credit card for dresses, or so I thought. And, since this is riding on my credit, my stomach was in knots. Of course, all the girls will have no problem paying for the dresses but that was beside the point. The fact that I didn't talk to Paul about it first didn't help, either. In all, we spent 4 hours running around Springfield looking at flowers, table top arrangements and a bit of other wedding paraphernalia before we headed home around 4pm yesterday evening. To say I was exhausted would be putting it mildly. Don't get me wrong, I was glad to be a help to Alexa; glad that the dresses had been ordered, knocking one more thing off her "to-do" list; and glad that I was able to spend some time with her. Its just that I was completely worn out by the end of the day. Where am I going with all of this? Ah well. Paul was very understanding of the credit card situation and confident that we'd have no hang-ups with it. Mom even said that she'd make sure that everything was paid for before the 12 month "same as cash" period was up. We had a verily relaxing evening just lounging about the house. Paul took care of putting the girls to bed while I took a short nap in the bedroom. At one point after the kids were asleep, Paul said that he needed to run to Wal-Mart. I had no idea what he was needing from the store at 8pm but I wasn't going to complain. I curled up with his laptop in bed and just browsed the web and relaxed. Some time later, Paul arrived back home with two sacks and set out to work, doing what, I had no idea. After a while, he pulled me out of bed and led me into a candle lit bathroom, complete with a warm, wonderful smelling bubble bath. He put me in the bath and pulled the curtain so that I was in my own little world. It was so relaxing. He turned on some beautiful instrumental music and let me just soak in the tub. I could hear him puttering around but I was so relaxed, I didn't think a whole lot about it. A short time later, he returned with a steaming cup of cider for me to sip on and then left again. Then he returned to put a warm pack over my eyes to help me relax some more (as if I could!). I have to say that I have never been so spoiled! I sat in the bath which smelled so wonderful, surrounded by candles and beautiful music and just relaxed every muscle in my body. I honestly could have fallen asleep in that tub, and probably would have if Paul hadn't returned a while later and asked me if I was ready to get out of the bath. I drained the water and Paul helped me out of the tub and led me back to the bed where my heated shoulder pack and the scented heat pack that Alexa had given me for Christmas were waiting for me. He'd even put the heating pad on the bed to warm it for me before I climbed in. He replaced my eye pack and moved the music into the bedroom, replacing Enya with the wonderful sounds of rain and thunder that we used to listen to each night as we went to sleep. To complete the evening, he took my favorite foot lotion (I'm addicted to the scent!) and massaged both my feet. I have to say, that my husband could not have relaxed me more or spoiled me better than he did last night! I really really have the best husband ever, huh?! Such a relaxing end to such a hectic week!
