Okay, so I may not be the most interesting read and I may not say anything that you don't already know but this diary is mainly for myself. I enjoy sharing it with others, particularly my close friends so they know what's happening in my world, but its still mainly for me. I love to type out my thoughts. Its a great break from my otherwise hectic day. And I love reading over old entries and seeing how much life has changed. So enjoy the read but try not to be too critical.
The Mad Ramblings of a House Wife
February 7, 2007 - 9:23 a.m.
Oh my. It is already the seventh of February. Is this year going to fly by as fast as the last? Well, I guess that's a stupid question. Of course it is! Every year we have more things going on that keep the weeks so busy they are here and then gone. This month is no different. At the beginning of the month, we were purchasing a new vehicle. We have birthdays on the 7th, 8th, 13th, 16th, 17th and then there's one more that I can't remember the exact date of. Now of course there aren't parties for each of those dates but that's not the point. We had taxes to prepare, and the obvious bi-monthly bills to pay. We have Haidyn's 18 month checkup which includes shots, Morgan's 5 year boosters and a OB/GYN appt. for me. We have taxes and registration to take care of on the new car, etc. And this is on top of the list of normal, weekly chores that we have like keeping the house in order and doing laundry, grocery shopping, etc. What fun, huh? But I guess this is just normal for the modern day American. So much to do, so little time to do it in. But, with that said, this week is going by at a normal pace for me. I think the main reason why my weeks fly by are because of the upcoming events that make me feel in a rush to reach them. When we were waiting to see if we were pregnant, the two weeks before my next cycle flew by. The months and weeks leading up to Mari & Cody's departure flew by as we rushed to get everything in order. I think I'm making the year fly by faster than it already is with all my anticipation for certain events like pregnancy, Alexa's wedding and the trip to Colorado this summer. Maybe my problem isn't that I'm busy as much as it is my worrying too much about what's ahead and not just relaxing and enjoying the now? Speaking of the now, I really need to get my house cleaned. I know, isn't it sad? I've been talking about this for ... well, for the life of this journal. And I feel like I'll be talking about it until my death or until we hire a maid, which ever comes first. ;) When you have kids in the house, the ability to keep it clean lessens dramatically (not that I did a good job before then).I am forever working on, you guessed it, LAUNDRY. Seriously, (and every other mother out there can understand this) where does it all come from?
And to think that some (I will be polite) know-nothing male writes in to a column about women working and tells us to "get back home and do YOUR job!" Because all we focus on is our careers, right? What a pig. For all of the women out there that are managing to keep their marriage together, work, go to school and take care of their house and kids, even if the house falls to the bottom of the "to-do" list, I commend you. Seriously! I have a hard time keeping it all together and I neither work nor go to school. Anyone that states that you aren't doing your job is as blind as a bat!
Okay... now how'd I get on this subject? LOL Oh well. I should get to that cleaning that I've been going on and on about. Hope you're week is going well. Remember that sometimes you just need to take a break and pamper yourselves every once in a while. Even if only for 1/2 an hour. Trust me, whatever you are doing can wait for that long. You'd be surprised how much more you'll get done afterwards.
