Okay, so I may not be the most interesting read and I may not say anything that you don't already know but this diary is mainly for myself. I enjoy sharing it with others, particularly my close friends so they know what's happening in my world, but its still mainly for me. I love to type out my thoughts. Its a great break from my otherwise hectic day. And I love reading over old entries and seeing how much life has changed. So enjoy the read but try not to be too critical.
Branson Get-Away
March 29, 2007 - 1:56 p.m.
I had the funnest weekend in a long time! Saturday through Monday were spent in Branson with Paul, Nancy & Chris at a beautiful and secluded little Bed & Breakfast. We spent the whole weekend shopping, relaxing in the hot tub, and just having fun. We went to the Stone Hill Winery (a first for me) and took the "grand tour". It was... interesting. But really, I did have fun and it was fascinating to try the various wines that Stone Hill produces. I ended up walking away with a bottle of White Spumante so I am happy. :D After that, we wondered through the Red Roof Mall and then the Tanger Outlet in search of some tennis shoes and swimming trunks for Paul. Nancy and I walked away with wonderfully comfortable tennies and some cute shirts from Old Navy. Fun, fun! We headed over to Landry's Seafood when we all started to get hungry and were in for a little bit of "sticker shock" when we were handed the menus after being seated. However, the food was far worth the hefty price tag that accompanied it. And, surprisingly enough, we spent less at Landry's than we spent on the meal the following evening at a cheaper venue. Go figure. After dinner it was back to the cabin for a little R&R - sipping on wine and relaxing in the awesome hot tub. The following morning it was agreed that the guys would wonder off to do their thing while the girls shopped for scrapbooking supplies (fun!!). The guys decided to get up early and go for breakfast. Nancy and I decided to take advantage of the vacation and sleep in a little bit and enjoy a leisurely brunch on the screened in patio. It was a wonderful and relaxing way to start the day! From there we went to various scrapbooking stores and found a variety of wonderful papers and embellishments. At one point, the boys stopped in to surprise us, give us kisses and say "hi"! We thought it was super cute and sweet! After our kisses and a run down on what we'd done so far that day, the boys were off again in pursuit of mini-golf and go-carts. Nancy and I finished our shopping and walked away with hands full (and pocket books a lot lighter!). We headed back to the cabin to unload our new treasures and take a dip in the hot tub before the guys came back to meet up with us for dinner. After the boys relaxed in the hot tub for a while and Nancy and I had changed into cuter attire, we headed back out into town. Mini-golfing was our first stop of the evening. The guys had gone to the course earlier in the day and wanted to share it with us. It was interesting to say the least. We did have a bit of fun but I have to say, the overly blue water that dripped through the ceiling in places (part of the course was outdoors and part was in "caves") was a bit gross. I think our best pictures came from the course, though; including a couple humorous ones. After mini-golf we were hungry so it was off to Charlie's Steakhouse. Excellent food and good Mai Tais! :D From there we drove around town - both the strip and the Landing area. You would not believe how everything shut down right at 8pm! Everyone was wondering about down town with nothing to do aside from chowing down on ice cream at a parlor on the Landing that remained open. (We had eaten there the night before when we decided to go check out the Landing at night.) Sunday night ended quietly with us relaxing a bit more in the hot tub watching a b-movie until we were too bored/tired to follow the plot and then it was off to bed. The following morning we took our time gathering up our luggage and then enjoying a quiet last breakfast on the back patio. Then it was back to civilization and our hectic schedules. It really was a wonderful weekend and the perfect mini get-away from the children and high-stress jobs. *for pictures of the weekend, visit my MSN Spaces page!
