Okay, so I may not be the most interesting read and I may not say anything that you don't already know but this diary is mainly for myself. I enjoy sharing it with others, particularly my close friends so they know what's happening in my world, but its still mainly for me. I love to type out my thoughts. Its a great break from my otherwise hectic day. And I love reading over old entries and seeing how much life has changed. So enjoy the read but try not to be too critical.
Vegetables and Columbines
April 10, 2007 - 1:41 p.m.
It is raining outside. It is also very cold - at least for mid April. The thermometer reads 43 degrees. I'm still amazed at the fact that Texas got snowed that stuck on Easter! We got snow the Friday before but it was more just spitting than anything. There wasn't anything close to any accumulation. Still, I enjoyed seeing it fall. As it is so cold and rainy, I will not be working on the yard and prepping the gardens (both flower & vegetable) as originally planned. I really need to get my Sweet 100s into the ground before they start fruiting. They are over 20 inches long and have blossoms. But that will have to wait for a few more days. I am excited to see the columbines sprout. Paul planted a few of them for me in peat pots and in a few weeks, I am hoping to put them in my front garden. I miss our Anniversary Columbine from the old house. It will be blooming in less than 3 weeks unless the unusual weather has altered its typical pattern. It has opened it first bloom on May 1st for the past 3 years. The first bloom that opened after we moved into that house appeared the day of our wedding and it continued to appear on our anniversary for the length of our ownership of that house. I might have to drive by it on the 1st and see if it keeps with tradition. :) I'm busy lost in thoughts about gardens and veggies but Haidyn is bringing me back to reality. She is currently screaming forcefully as she lays in her bed. She has no interest in taking a nap. I don't know what her problem is. She often protests when she goes down for her naps but not usually to this extent. She has been doing this for the past week. It is very frustrating. She ends up being a very grumpy little girl for the last half of the afternoon due to lack of decent sleep. And the fact that she has not had a decent night's sleep in nearly a week does not help the matter. For whatever reason, she has been struggling to get to sleep at a decent time - finally giving in to sleep around 10:30 or 11pm. I noticed two new teeth this morning and assumed that they were the cause of the problem but as she is screaming and fighting sleep again, I'm inclined to question that assumption. *sigh* I am feeling like being social. Actually, I feel like shopping. But I can't do either at the moment. Haidyn HAS to have her nap and I should wait to do any shopping until Paul can watch Haidyn for a few hours. She is not a fun one to shop with. She doesn't like to sit for long periods of time and I can't let her wander around the store. So, since I can't do either, I will get back to my house cleaning. I so desperately need to get caught up on the laundry. I fell behind last week on both the house and the laundry. Morgan is down in Texas to visit Grandma for a couple of weeks so I am taking that time to get my house spotless and hopefully get the bunk bed at least started, if not completed. So on that note, I will finish this entry. I have a lot to do and what better day to get it done than on a day when its too cold and rainy to be outside.
