Okay, so I may not be the most interesting read and I may not say anything that you don't already know but this diary is mainly for myself. I enjoy sharing it with others, particularly my close friends so they know what's happening in my world, but its still mainly for me. I love to type out my thoughts. Its a great break from my otherwise hectic day. And I love reading over old entries and seeing how much life has changed. So enjoy the read but try not to be too critical.

A Vacation from Vacation
July 17, 2007 - 9:56 a.m.

Its a funny thing. You take a vacation to get away from the stress of life. Maybe your job is wearing you down or your household duties are running you ragged. Either way, you head off with high hopes and leave your worries about day-to-day life behind for a few days. When the vacation is over, you're ready to head back home and return to familiarity. Unfortunately, with that comes the readjustment back into your daily routine. And that, my friends, is not an easy transition.

We returned from our leisurely Colorado vacation on Saturday afternoon. We unpacked nothing but the essentials and did nothing besides relax for the remainder of that evening so as to recover from the two day trip back from Colorado. On Sunday, we worked on straightening the house which had become a bit out of sorts with all the packing on the 5th and the minor unpacking on the previous afternoon. Though we worked most of the day, it honestly didn't feel like we had accomplished much in my mind. There is still so much to do. Monday Paul returned to work. That was a difficult adjustment in itself. Both the girls and I have become accustomed to having Paul around throughout the day so having him gone was a bit awkward. Haidyn had the hardest time adjusting to not having daddy around. Monday was just, for the most part, a wash. The car is still requiring unpacking and the house still requires some TLC, though we were able to get a bit of laundry done.

Today started out by taking Paul to work (I picked him up from work yesterday so that we could do some running around together). I have gotten a few things done but, again, there is so much to do that it can, at times, feel very overwhelming. My goal for today is to have the kitchen & livingroom restraightened and the master bed & bath cleaned & decluttered. There is so much to do this week. I have to get things in order in the house; search for items for a garage sale that I am helping with this weekend, get caught up on my bible study that was hit and miss while we were on vacation, pay the bills for the second half of the month, obtain shots records from a doctor's office that I don't know the name of for school, buy a present for my one year old niece (her b-day party is this Saturday in Lebanon), and possibly pack for another nighter at the in-law's. As Tedi would say, this is more fun than one person should be allowed to have.

You know it sounds funny but sometimes its seems like you need a vacation to recover from your vacation. If I could get just one week without social obligations, I'd be good to go. But I can't exactly ignore my friends and family to get my house clean. I am bad enough about doing that anyway! *sigh*
