Okay, so I may not be the most interesting read and I may not say anything that you don't already know but this diary is mainly for myself. I enjoy sharing it with others, particularly my close friends so they know what's happening in my world, but its still mainly for me. I love to type out my thoughts. Its a great break from my otherwise hectic day. And I love reading over old entries and seeing how much life has changed. So enjoy the read but try not to be too critical.

Something Special
October 29, 2007 - 8:30 a.m.

I have always known that my hubby was something special. He is just one of a kind. For me, he really stood out as such a different breed of guy. He was so gentlemanly but still as fun as any guy I've ever met. His sense of humor-boy! And he loves to "stir the pot" as his mom affectionately says it. He's always out to "pick fights" without you realizing it. He is also one of the most multi-talented people that I have never met. He amazes me with the amount of things that he is able to do.

Yesterday he surprised me with another one of his abilities - sewing. I decided to take on the seemingly simple task of making Morgan a poodle skirt for 50s day at school today. Because of things being so chaotic and me suffering STILL from morning sickness (when does THIS end??), I was able to pick up the fabric only this Friday. Just 3 days shy of the day she needed it. Saturday was out as a day to work on it because I spent the bulk of the day going between the couch and the bathroom to get sick (you wanted to know that, now didn't you?). So that left yesterday to get it done.

I have made these skirts before so I thought it would be just a smallish undertaking. I had no idea how big of an undertaking it would actually end up being. The last time I made one was like 8 years ago. So, my memory has had plenty of time to wipe that part clean. I could remember so little of how we did it. And then there was the sewing machine. I know how to sew, don't get me wrong. But I am not the best with older sewing machines. I need one that's fool proof 'cuz I'm one heck of a fool.

I cut the pattern out which was tedious and then we sat down to work on the sewing machine and could not get it to work right. Paul decided to see if he could help. Well, he figured out that the needle was bent so we went to the store to buy a new one and Paul got volunteered to do the machine sewing. I was so impressed with his ability to work that machine, I thought it was much better for him to do it than for me to attempt to muddle through it.

So for the duration of Saturday afternoon and on into the evening hours, Paul worked on sewing the skirt, adding the zipper and the waist band. He did a marvelous job. I did whatever hand stitching needed to be done and then Mom added the finishing touches like the poodle. It turned out beautifully, thanks to my wonderful husband. I cannot believe how talented that guy is! :) I'm so thankful to have a hubby like him.
